A Syrian herself, the BBC’s Middle East correspondent Lina Sinjab says this is the first time she has crossed the country “without fear of detention, without fear of arrest”.
Earlier, she watched as civilians and rebels celebrated the fall of the Assad regime.
The BBC is the only British broadcaster reporting from Damascus.
