Ariana GrandeShe’s got her own signature voice, but she can still impersonate just about any big Hollywood singer … paying tribute to some incredible female vocalists during her Saturday Night Live monologue.
The singer-songwriter hosted ‘SNL’ for the second time … first hosting the show back in 2016, pointing out that the last time she hosted, America also had a female presidential candidate, and hoping it was better will be. Kamala Harris than Hillary Clinton.
Grande then says she’s lucky she’ll be starring in the movie version of the Broadway show Wicked, which comes out next month, before adding that she’s not going to sing during the show, just host.
Of course, the trick is that he almost immediately hands over the mic… and launches into a three-minute+ song-by-song monologue; does everything it promises, doesn’t sing.
One of the most impressive moments… Ariana says she won’t sing like that Britney Spears, Miley Cyrus or Gwen Stefani — before hitting each note as they would. You have to hear to believe.
He also made a wicked “Wicked” joke … saying he wouldn’t talk about the new movie before crashing. Bowen Young all decked out in Glinda pink and telling her the sketch was cut.
Ariana sang more on the show than her monologue suggests…somewhat in about half of the aired sketches, so she didn’t make the night as much as she could joke.
However, Stevie Nicks Night was performing duties… so Ariana was able to enjoy a few short breaks in between quick changes.
Ariana didn’t do a Nicks impression during the show… but she nailed pretty much everyone, and got a lot of laughs, too.
