Anthony Joshua vs Tyson Fury is one step closer and could take place at Wembley Stadium this summer.
Eddie Hearn has revealed he wants Joshua back in May or June and has reserved Wembley for a possible mega-fight with Fury.
However, Hearn admits it’s still unclear what Fury wants to do after back-to-back losses to Oleksandr Usyk.
Asked if he has a chance at Wembley if Fury wants to fight Joshua, Hearn said: “Yes. We want to be back in the ring in May or June. It doesn’t really matter if it ends in July.
“I still think it’s up to Tyson Fury. Until the defeat settles in and where he is mentally and what he wants to do, that’s where we’re really going to find out.
“Because when he looks at the options, what else is he going to do and who else is he going to fight?”
Joshua, who hasn’t fought since being knocked out by Daniel Dubois in September, posted a picture of Fury on Instagram with the caption, “looking for this guy.”
Speaking at the Ring Awards, Hearn added: “Everything I’ve seen from AJ’s social media, especially in the last hour, is very encouraging.
“He’s not really one to call someone out, but obviously he’s calling him out. He’s calling out Tyson Fury.
“That’s the fight he wants. I keep saying there are two fights: Daniel Dubois or Tyson Fury.
“The world heavyweight title is what he (Joshua) wants. But of course Fury is a fight that should go on Anthony Joshua’s resume.
“And obviously it has to be delivered for the British public as well.
“I think the real key to that is Tyson Fury. He’s only three weeks away from losing, he’s probably still upset about that loss. We’ll have to see if he wants to fight again.”
Joshua: I’m gunning for Fury and want to leave the game
Anthony Joshua to Ring Magazine…
“After my last fight, I took some time off. I let my body heal, which I’m still working on, and I gave up some business opportunities so I could focus on the sport, which takes the mental pressure off as well as the physical.
“I went with the family which is always good and we’re back again in 2025 and I feel good.
“This is a fight (Joshua-Fury) that I want to see because I’m a boxing fan, so I want to start that fight.
“When I’m at the local gym, everyone asks me, and the reason I decided to do something interesting (on social media) is because I don’t have many years behind me.
“So what I want to do is go away from the game and make an impact.
“Be a weird, cool character, have fun with it while we’re at it and go to the big fights. Tyson Fury is one of them.
“Every time I see people, they say: “When you fight Fury.” The Irish community, the English community, the Nigerian community all ask me the same question.
“As a fighter, it’s up to me to deliver this year.”
