Anthony Joshua is set to fight Tyson Fury in 2025 as he vows to continue boxing after his crushing loss to Daniel Dubois in September.
Former world heavyweight champion Joshua was knocked out in the fifth round by Britain’s Dubois at Wembley Stadium as he suffered the fourth loss of his career.
However, the 35-year-old does not appear to be considering retirement and is hoping for a long-awaited showdown with Fury, who was recently outpointed by Oleksandr Usyk for a second time in Saudi Arabia.
“2025, I’m targeting Tyson Fury,” Joshua said during a meeting with Nigerian President Bola Tinubu.
Referring to the Dubois fight, he added: “Makes me hungry, makes me work harder. Time is of the essence, time is limited, so I just want to do more work.
“When I look back, I think I could have done more in 2024. I have another chance in 2025 to do more, and I’m going to make sure I take advantage of every opportunity that comes my way.
“I should have won, but I didn’t and I’m going to go again.
“My life is up and down, so I have to get used to the turbulent times and keep riding the wave.
“I can’t stop now. I have to keep going until I reach my destination.”
Speaking Sky Sports After Fury’s loss to Usyk on December 21, Joshua’s promoter Eddie Hearn said:
“Has there ever been a better time? They’re both losing, both at the end of their careers.
“One in Wembley, one in Riyadh, two fights in 2025.”
