Andy Cohen he talks about the recent decision to reboot “Vanderpump Rules” with an all-new cast for season 12.
The Bravo honcho addressed the news on his SiriusXM radio show on Monday, saying he thought it was the right decision to shake up the cast with all new faces, admitting that the series deviated from its original premise of following a crew that works Lisa VanderpumpThe West Hollywood restaurant, SUR.
He says the whole point of the show morphed and changed as it went on and it ended James Kennedy was the only member of the OG cast that still had ties to SUR, as he still DJs there occasionally. “Now he’s moved on, and he’s got a residency in Vegas, and he’s having a lot of success, and they all are also having good success outside of SUR,” said AC.
He cited the strained relationship among the cast as another challenge for the producers. “You have others who don’t want to be in the same room, let alone on the same show, with each other, and that makes sense, too.”
Cohen praised the OG stars for always staying true to themselves, saying: “Like them or hate them, or like them or hate them, they’ve always been very much themselves, and that’s what makes that show so fun and amazing.”
Bravo says “VPR” season 12 will begin production next year.
