Tate was placed under house arrest in August, when prosecutors opened a second criminal investigation against himself and Tristan Tate, along with four other suspects, on charges of trafficking minors, sex with minors and money laundering. They all deny wrongdoing.
There was a first, separate case against the brothers The appeal court in Bucharest sent back to the prosecutor’s office in December for the second time, saying that it could not continue in its current form.
In that case, Andrew and Tristan Tate were charged with human trafficking and forming an organized group to sexually exploit women.
They also deny the charges, as well as rape and human-trafficking charges brought against them in the UK, where police are seeking the extradition of the dual UK-US nationals.
A judge in Bucharest previously said the extradition request would be considered after the case in Romania was concluded.
In Great Britain, the brothers are also accused of tax evasion. Last month, a British court ruled that police could seize more than 2 million pounds ($2.4 million) from them for failing to pay tax on the 21 million pounds earned from their online business.
Andrew Tait said the ruling was “not justice” and called it a “coordinated attack”.
He calls himself a misogynist and has previously been banned from social media for expressing such views.
A former kickboxer, he has amassed millions of followers online and has lived in Romania for several years before living in the UK.
