A technology problem at Alaska Airlines caused a temporary landing of flights in Seattle on Monday morning and problems in the evening for people trying to book flights on its website, the airline said.
The Seattle-based company said in a statement Monday morning that the problem had caused “significant disruption” to its operations, including delayed flights. The airline said it requested a 40-minute layover at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport to clear aircraft congestion.
No further details about the technology issue were released, and the reason for the outages was unclear.
A message on the company’s website on Monday evening said it is experiencing problems booking flights on the website, via a mobile app and in the contact centre.
“We sincerely apologize to our guests who were affected and are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible,” the statement said.
