Santorini suffered from a powerful, shallow earthquake at 5.3, which is the strongest to strike on the Greek island during the recent seismic activity in the area.

The holders felt in Athens on Monday night and measured the focal depth of 17 km (10.6 miles).

The residents of the neighboring island of Amorgas remains in a state of high publication after the last tremor, who followed the moderate earthquake 5.0 between the islands on Sunday night.

The tourist hot spot has been deployed by seismic activity since January, and more than 12,800 earthquakes were discovered by the university seismological laboratory.

Some residents have noticed as patrolling dangerous areas to restrain tourists from photographing on the rocks.

Amatans occurred in many parts of Santorini from the frequency and intensity of the jolts and experts, did not rule out the main earthquake.

The seismologists were optimistic about the intensity of the earthquakes who are beginning to subside, but are now concerned that they are worsening.

Santorini will remain a state of emergency at least 3 March.

On Sunday, the earthquake was preceded by three smaller ones more than 4.0, and three on Monday morning were also more than 4.0.

Inspections did not detect damage to buildings in Santorini or Amorga.

As a result of the earthquakes that have been numbered in the thousands since January 26, there was no injury, but more than 11,000 people left the islands.

Schools will remain closed in Santorin, Amorgas and several other islands on Monday and Tuesday.

The special response team team went to AMORGOS with Patras with a special rescue vehicle, and the technical teams are expected to inspect the electricity on the island.

Costas Papazochos, Professor of Seismology in Aristotle in thessalonik, told Greek Reds that the authorities had to allow the situation to continue for the majority or all February.

“Hopefully, we are slowly moving to a gradual de-escalation,” he said.

“We must be a little patient and see. Hopefully, in a couple of weeks, the phenomenon will start to compress.”

He said the possibility of a large earthquake was not completely excluded.

Meanwhile, the Viking Cruise Ship with 893 passengers and 470 crews combined at the port of courts in Create early on Monday morning.

It was to become the first cruise ship of the season in Santorini. The ship has changed its route mostly to avoid overpowering cars in Santorini during seismic activity.

The strongest earthquake on Thursday was 5.2 values. Six and above are considered serious.

Greece-one of the most prone to earthquakes in Europe, but scientists are embarrassed by the current “clusters” of earthquakes who were not associated with a big shock.

Santorini is on what is known as the Heline volcanic arc, which is a chain of islands created by volcanoes, but the last major eruption occurred in the 1950s.

The Greek authorities said recent jolts were associated with the tectonic movements of the plates rather than volcanic activities.

Scientists cannot predict the exact terms, size or location of the earthquakes.

From January 26 to February 8, 2025, the Laboratory of Seismology (SL) of Athenian University registered more than 12,800 earthquakes in the Santorini-Samo area.
