The United States has long become the patron saint of Israel’s military weapons, and Apachia’s rendering, missiles and bombs in the region, which began until the 1960s. Latest polls Show that only a small percentage of Democrats supports Israel’s hostilities. While the democratic voter base can now oppose Israeli US through military assistance, DNC resolutions will serve as a litmus test for whether such sentiment among legislators is displayed.
Nation He talked to the minister about her resolution on August 22. This interview was reduced and edited by length and clarity.
Zoya Alam: Can you give us information about your DNC permit? What exactly are you calling?
Ellison Miner: Now we see the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, where we see images of hungry bodies, urban cities and destroyed buildings. We have seen the horror of these conditions for many years. Now this is an opportunity for the Democratic Party – which says they are also concerned about this current humanitarian crisis – to make it a very understandable official, but also its voters that this resolution means that the party will not continue to send military aid and weapons to the region.

Some of our US senators and our Congress members have an immediate ability to influence it through their votes. Thus, one thing when the Democratic Party calls for ceasefire; This is another one if we support it with our actions. This resolution will become one of the smaller steps in how we can communicate with the elected leaders, officials and voters that this is the exact position of the party.
For: Along with your resolution, Ken Martin’s Counter-Resolution. What does his resolution suggest? And why would you say that your resolution is better?
AM: To call for a ceasefire – and not to admit that the elected democratic officials and continue to send weapons and military aid to the region – this does not correspond to the moment. It also does not meet where the voters are. Therefore, I would say that although the resolution may recognize the dignity of the Palestinians, but also acknowledge the humanitarian crisis, it just does not go far enough.
For: Part of your resolution calls Congress to recognize Palestine as a state, and offers weapons to Israel. What was the push for you to bring this resolution to the table? And why now?
AM: I think it starts with the confession that this question is not just what I only made. This is a conversation that voters across the country, where we see that only 7 percent of the Democrats support the current Democratic Party position (on Israel’s hostilities) in the last week’s elections. So, it’s not just the moods that repeat one dnc member. This is the whole democratic base that really calls for this change, but also a more clearly transmitted position. I think there is a much bigger base of people who really push this, and I am only one person who has the opportunity and position when it made a place for friendship.
I am a new member, so this is one of the first opportunities I had to say in this matter. Part of it is simply connected with the terms, but I think something else that should be noted is that there have been a ceasefire conversations for many years, and now it has been a few years throughout this crisis. There should be a shift in how we talk about it because we cannot continue to conduct the same conversation on the cycle.
Everyone can agree that we want this humanitarian crisis to end. But as long as we just continue to call on the same old old man, you don’t expect to see too much shift.
For: The democratic majority for Israel condemned your resolution. It is said that it “doesn’t even mention October 7”. And hostages are causing a key problem in the counter -chairman of Ken Martin. What is your answer to them?
AM: Selected democratic officials have opportunities – some of their votes – to influence what weapons and what assistance does or does not reach the region. And so, when we can talk about Hamas and the horror and atrocities that have taken place, we cannot lead this conversation unless we recognize the role that the Democratic Party and our elected officials in the formation of this conversation.
There is a more direct border between the US and Israel government than between the US and Hamas government. Any conversation that does not admit that it is simply not rooted in reality where we are now. We have chosen officials who vote for bills that supply weapons and assistance to the region. So I think it’s really important what is what is in our control. I don’t think it will be quite fair if we made the promises we cannot fulfill.
For: You 26 and one of the junior dnc members. Have you encountered any lapel offering this resolution? Of course, you have a chair that teaches counterfeit, but what was the environment for you to offer such an idea?
AM: The volume of support I heard from other members is also only from the everyday people and voters I organize here in Florida, but only those who have addressed from all over the country – really shows that there is a large gap between the party leadership and voters.
A great push, obviously, top down to try to remain silent because the party’s leadership does not match voters. Therefore, I hope that for the first time in the official setting in the DNC can be a bigger impetus for voters to return control of the party.
For: What do you expect on August 26?
AM: A conversation that may be just the beginning – but there will definitely be no end – talk about gas and the humanitarian crisis in the Democratic Party. But I also guess that there will probably be separation, but it is long overdue. And I think it’s now or never.

For: What do you have to say to Americans who are not on the side of the Republican Party and Trump’s agenda, but also feel dissatisfied with the Democratic Party, especially when it comes to its current position in Israel?
Well, I can speak as one of the same Democrats, and what I say is what every time you felt hopeless or every time you felt disappointed, there is a unique opportunity to participate more actively. That is why I urge people if you do not feel presented in the party structure, face fire, join the local Democratic Executive Committee, join the local leader of the young Dems, and really start to conduct these conversations.
So I often believe that we view the power as something distant, but if you are ready to put yourself there and if you are ready to talk, most of the people you know are taking the same position we are talking about now. If I did not make such a decision to launch, and if I did not make this decision to really represent the voices of the young Dem, which I organize, we wouldn’t talk to this conversation. I think it just shows that everyone can and should activate and say because we all have the same requirements.
For: What -ALL HAVE HAPPENDS MONEY IS KNOW?
AM: Leadership can become comfortable, or may even want to evade the conversation, stop the conflict, and I think there should be tough conversations. This is one of the time.
At this point, the crisis we need the only, progressive opposition to Donald Trump.
We begin to see how we start to develop on the streets and ballots all over the country: from the Candide company in Mary’s New York Mammani, focused on accessibility, community that protect their neighbors from ice, to senators who oppose weapons.
The Democratic Party has an urgent choice: will it accept a policy that is fundamental and popular, or will continue to insist on the loss of elections with the elites and consultants who brought us here?
