Connecticut’s Attorney General sent his second warning for a month to the airline with an inexpensive carrier Avelo Airlines, reporting that he threatened the tax benefits and other local support, agreeing to fly deportation for immigration and forced execution.

Democrats in the legislative body of Connecticut, meanwhile, are working on expanding the law on the state’s sanctuary to punish companies such as Avelo for work with federal immigration bodies.

The reaction comes after Avelo signed an agreement in Texas earlier this month to devote three of its 20 planes to deport deportations as part of a charter network known as Ice Air. It also follows from the PROPBLICA report, which the Connecticut’s Prosecutor General Tong refer Troubled concern about the treatment and security of the detainees on such flights. Concerned by the raised airline officer, how difficult it could be to evacuate people who wear wrists and shackles.

“Can Avelo confirm that it will never drive flights, while non -violent passengers are in shackles, handcuffs, waist networks and/or ironing on the feet?” Asks Tonga’s letter on April 8. “Can Avelo confirm that it will never manage the flight without a safe and timely evacuation strategy for all passengers?”

Then Tong issued Public statement on April 15 repeating their problems.

In 2022, before his current contract on the ice, Avelo flew into a number of statutes for the immigration agency. The stewardess took photos of the detainees in the wrist and the ankle.

In an e -mail on April 3, Avelo staff received propublica and other publications, CEO Andrew Levi called the contract for the “too valuable so as not to continue” At the time when his startup lost money And consumers’ confidence was reduced, making the Americans make less trips. Avelo will close one of its bases, in the Sonoma district, California, and moved certain flight routes in the past days when the resources switched to the ice. Deportation flights would be founded from Mes, Arizona and will start in May.

Avelo has a major center in New Schvenne, Connecticut, and recently expanded to Bradley International Airport near Hartford. In 2023, the airline received a two -year moratorium on fuel tax after state legislators.

Last Thursday US Senator Richard Blumenthal was one of almost 300 participants in A, A rally outside the News -Cheven Airport. “Avelo must change his move,” he said. “For President Abel: You really entered him.”

The members of the public also cause objections. As also Internet Petition The call for Avelo boycott, when he does not provide his new contract, collected almost 35,000 signatures since April 6. And protests extend from Connecticut to cities that the airline serves across the country, including Eugene, Oregon; Rochester, New York; Bubble, California; and Wilmington, Delaware.

Tonga’s letter to Abel demanded a copy of his contract on the ice from the airline. The Prosecutor General also asked if Abel would deport people contrary to the court order, pointing to the March flights to Salvador, which is carried out by another charter airline Globalx, after the federal judge ordered the planes to return. Neither ICE nor Globalx answered the PROPBLICA requests.

Failure replied Tong with one letter page. Levi suggested that if Connecticut wants to get additional information about the Avelo ice contract, he must submit a public record request. (Federal statistics show that such requests on ICE usually require months or years to answer.)

If the Attorney General wanted to find out more about the use of the shares on the deportation flights, he should ask the Department of Homeland Security. If Tong wanted to learn more about the evacuation requirements, he must address the issues of the Federal Aviation Administration. On the part of Avel, Levi assured Tonga, the airline “remains committed to public safety and the rule of law.”

“Regardless of the administration or belonging to the party,” said Avelo Popublica’s press -secretary in an email: “If our country calls our practice, say” yes. “We follow all DHS and FAA protocols.

A bill funded by Democra 29-12, party votingAbove the strong objections of the Republicans and waiting for a complete vote on the floor. If it passes, any companies – including airlines offered to run a business with the state must not “cooperate or contract with any federal immigration body for the purpose of detention, holding or transporting a person.”

Meanwhile, the Avelo Fuel moratorium ends on June 30.
