President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky called for the creation of the “army of Europe” to preserve Russia because it suggested that the US could no longer come to the rescue of the continent.
Speaking at the Munich Security Conference, he also stated that Ukraine “never accepts transactions made behind our backs without our participation” after US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin agreed to start peace talks.
In a speech on Friday, In which he attacked European democracyUS Vice President JD Vance warned that Europe needs to “activate a large form”.
Zelensky said: “I really believe that it is time – it is necessary to create Europe’s armed forces.”
He said: “Yesterday, in Munich, the US Vice -President made it clear (that) the decades of old relations between Europe and America end.
“From now on, things will be different, and Europe must adjust to it.”
Earlier this week, US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegset said that a complete invasion of Russia was a “factory reset” for NATO, which signaled that the alliance should be “reliable”, “strong” and “true”.
On Saturday, Zelensky said: “Let’s be honest. Now we cannot rule out the possibility that America can say” no “Europe on the issues that threaten it.

The European Army’s concept is what other leaders have offered, including French President Emmanuel Macron, who has long supported the block service to reduce his dependence on the United States.
Zelensky said: “A few days ago, President Trump told me about his conversation with Putin. More than once he mentioned that America needed Europe at the table – that’s a lot.
“The old days ended when America supported Europe just because it has always been.”
As a full -scale invasion of Russia in Ukraine is approaching the three -year anniversary, Trump and Hegset said it is unlikely that Ukraine would join NATO.
The US Secretary of Defense also stated that the return to Ukraine’s borders by 2014 was unrealistic.
Zelensky stated that “he would not take NATO membership for Ukraine from the table.”
