US Vice President JD Vance began an attack on European democracies, saying that the greatest threat facing the continent was not from Russia and China, but “inside”.
Vnes was expected to use his speech at the Munich Security Conference to resolve possible negotiations on the war in Ukraine.
Instead, he spent the majority, accusing the European governments – including the UK – to retreat from his values and ignoring the problems of voters on migration and freedom of expression.
The appeal was met with silence in the hall and later appointed by several politicians at the conference. German Defense Minister Boris Pistaria said it was “unacceptable”.
Vens repeated the Trump administration line that Europe should “intensify to ensure its own defense.”
Ukraine has been mentioned that Vnes said he hoped that a “reasonable settlement” could be achieved after a “reasonable settlement” could be made when he and Russia, Vladimir Putin, agreed to start peace talks.
But Vnes’ appeal was otherwise focused on the problems of the war and key topics of the Trump campaign for the US presidency – a retreat from ordinary security and defense discussions at the annual conference.
He claimed that the “commissioners” of the European Union suffered freedom of speech, accused the continent of mass migration and accused its leaders of retreating “some of the most basic values”.
EU foreign policy chief Kaj Kalas characterized Vnes as “attempts to choose a fight” with Europe where some of the nearest US allies live.
Vnes used his 20-minute speech to nominate several European countries, including in the UK.
He raised the legal case in which Was convicted by a veteran of the army who silently prayed on the bounds of the abortion clinic Violation of a 150-meter safe area around the center.
The safe area introduced in October 2022 prohibits activity in favor or abortion, including protests, persecution and vigil.
But Vens claimed that “the main freedoms of religious British, in particular” threatened.
Nine days before the tense national elections in Germany, he touched upon the hot discussion in the country around major political parties, supporting the so -called “firewall”, which does not work with the far -right alternative to Germany (AFD).
In the decades after the restoration of democracy in Germany, after the Nazis defeat, there was a consensus among major political parties not to work with extreme rights.
“Democracy relies on the holidays, which matters the voice of the people,” Vnes said. “No place for firewalls. You either support the principle or do not.”
In his own speech, Pistaria directly addressed Vens, saying: “The US Vice-President has questioned the US Vice President across Europe.
“He talks about the destruction of democracy,” Pistaria continued. “And when I understand it correctly, it compares the conditions in parts of Europe to the terms of authoritarian regimes … This is unacceptable.”
Vnes also referred to the Romanian presidential election, which were canceled in December after the declassified documents were offered It was aimed at interference of the Russian state.
Vnes said the conference: “If your democracy can be destroyed by several $ 100,000 digital advertising from a foreign country, it was not very strong for starters.”
Romanian Prime Minister Marseille Siolak said his country remains a “defender of democratic values sharing Europe with the United States.”
“All the authorities of the Rou (Romanian) seek to organize free and fair elections, expanding the rights and capabilities of citizens and guaranteeing freedom of voting,” he wrote on X.
Later, Vnes met with the President of Ukrainian Volodimir Zelensky on the sidelines of the conference, which otherwise focused on the full -scale invasion of Russia.
During the meeting, Zelensky stated that more work was needed to plan the fighting, and Vnes said the couple had shared a “fruitful” conversation.
Trump told us, Russian and Ukrainian officials will meet in Munich, but Moscow said she did not send the delegation to the summit.
