Pope Francis to be admitted to Rome hospital for bronchitis, Vatican says

Pope Francis will be hospitalized in Rome to undergo treatment and tests for bronchitis, the Vatican said.

The 88-year-old guy will come to the Hemel hospital after the morning audience on Friday, a brief statement said.

The Pope had a few days symptoms of bronchitis and delegated officials to read his prepared speeches at the latest events.

“This morning, after his audience, Pope Francis will be admitted to the polyclinic agstin hemeli for the necessary diagnostic tests and continue treatment at the hospital for his permanent bronchitis,” the statement said.

On Wednesday, the Pope asked the priest to read some of his speech because of his difficulties with the disease.

“Let me ask the priest to continue reading because I cannot yet, with my bronchitis. I hope I will be able to,” said the 88-year-old boy soon after the performance.

He also asked the assistants to read on his behalf in Mass on Sunday and the last audience last Wednesday.

Last week, he held meetings at the Vatican residence, trying to rest and recover.

The pope was treated from bronchitis at the same hospital in March 2023, having spent three nights there.

In December of the same year, he was forced to cancel a trip to the United Arab Emirates at the COP28 Climate Conference of another illness.
