Pink flamingos ‘seized from smugglers’ in Tunisia

Ten disappearing flamingos were saved after smugglers were caught, trying to send them from Tunisia, according to the country’s customs authority.

Photos of birds stuffed with their wings, legs and torso were posted on the Internet.

On Sunday, the flamingos were saved close to the Algerian border, “downloading a truck containing a Tunisian registration plate”, “,” Officials said in a statement.

Now the birds were safely returned to the natural habitat, the officials added, “as part of the effort to preserve this species.”
