US President Donald Trump said that he is considering the possibility of introducing a 10% duty on imports of Chinese-made goods from February 1.
Trump said discussions with his administration “are based on the fact that they are sending fentanyl to Mexico and Canada.”
This comes after Trump threatened to impose 25% import taxes on Mexico and Canada, accusing them of allowing undocumented migrants and drug traffickers into the US.
On his first day in office, the new president also directed federal agencies to review existing trade agreements and identify unfair practices by US trading partners.
