President Joe Biden preemptively pardoned a number of people, including the head of the Covid-19 response, Anthony Fauci, and those involved in the January 6 riots investigation to prevent “unwarranted…politically motivated prosecutions.”
Biden said, “Our nation is grateful to these public servants for their tireless commitment.”
Trump, who will be inaugurated later on Monday, suggested he would take action against those who tried to hold him accountable for his supporters’ attempt to overturn the 2020 presidential election.
Biden also preemptively pardoned retired general Mark Milley, who called Trump “fascist to the core” and “dangerous.”
