Leonardo DiCaprio continues its philanthropic work by pledging $1 million to support wildfire relief amid the devastating wildfires in Los Angeles.
The movie star made the announcement on social media on Wednesday, revealing that the donation will be made in conjunction with his organization Re:wild to help with both immediate needs and long-term recovery after the fires.
The organization’s Rapid Response Program is designed specifically to respond to environmental disasters and emergencies.The first aid will support the Los Angeles Fire Department Foundation, the California Fire Foundation, the World Central Kitchen, the California Community Foundation, the Pasadena Humane Society and the SoCal Fire Fund.
Given that Los Angeles is Leo’s hometown, his $1 million donation to wildfire relief is a deeply personal and meaningful gesture.
With thousands of families displaced, 24 lives lost and many animals injured, Leo is just one of the many celebrities who are supporting the fight against the wildfires.
Beyonce, Paris Hilton, The Eagles, Metallica, Eva Longoria, Arnold Schwarzeneggerand many others have also stepped up, making huge donations and doing their part to support those affected by the bushfires.
