Aston Villa have completed the signing of Donnell Mullen from Borussia Dortmund for a total of £20m.
Villa paid an initial £21m but the deal could be worth £27.7m including performance-related add-ons.
Mullen has scored five goals in 20 appearances for Dortmund in all competitions this season, netting in the last game in a 3-1 Bundesliga win against Wolfsburg.
The former Arsenal academy player netted a total of 39 times in 131 appearances for Dortmund during his three-and-a-half-year spell with the German giants.
The Dutchman joined Dortmund from PSV Eindhoven for £26m in July 2021, replacing Jadon Sancho who moved to Manchester United earlier in the summer.
Mullen spent two years in Arsenal’s academy before being sold to PSV in the summer of 2017.
Villa’s pursuit of Mullen is paying off
Sky Sports News senior reporter Rob Dorsett.
“That was the one they were after for a long time.
“We know that Villa It’s gone down a bit in recent weeks, but they wanted Mullen, they’ve been chasing him for a while and they want to do it.”
