In maps: Thousands of acres on fire in LA

Seven fires are now being eliminated.

The Palisades The fire was first reported at 10:30 a.m. (6:30 p.m. GMT) on Tuesday, and in just 20 minutes it had grown from 20 acres to more than 200 acres and by Wednesday evening was approaching 16,000 acres. At least 30,000 people have been ordered to leave their homes at the moment.

The Ethan the fire grew to 1,000 acres within the first six hours after breaking out. It started in Altadena in the hills above Pasadena around 6:30 p.m. local time on Tuesday. By Wednesday evening, five deaths had been reported and it had spread to more than 10,000 acres.

The Hurst the fire is north of San Fernando. It started burning around 10:10 p.m. local time Tuesday, growing to 850 acres, according to local officials. That prompted an evacuation order in nearby Santa Clarita.

The Woodley A fire broke out in Woodley Park at approximately 06:15 local time on Wednesday. The Los Angeles Fire Department (LAFD) reports that it is now contained.

A Olives The fire broke out in Ventura County, northwest of Los Angeles, and burned about 11 hectares of land, although it is now also contained.

The Lydia The fire broke out around 2 p.m. Wednesday in the mountainous Acton area north of Los Angeles and burned nearly 350 acres. As of 21:00 localized 40%.

The Sunset A fire broke out in Hollywood Hills, a residential neighborhood overlooking Hollywood’s historic district, around 6 p.m. It currently occupies about 50 hectares and is 0% contained. Mandatory evacuation order is in force.
