A car plowed into people at a Christmas market in Magdeburg, Germany on Friday, injuring several victims and sending many fleeing in terror, according to police.
Extensive police operations are underway at Magdeburg’s Christmas market, which is now closed, police said.
Magdeburg is about two hours west of Berlin.

The potential for vehicle attacks is a constant concern for U.S. law enforcement officials, especially before New Year’s Eve. A joint threat assessment of New Year’s Eve in New York’s Times Square noted that the use of carjacking alone or in combination with other tactics “has become a recurring tactic used by Western threat actors.”
