Rep. Byron Donalds, a prominent ally of R-Fla Donald TrumpHe downplayed the chances of the military having a major military presence when the president-elect envisioned a major deportation effort when he takes office.
Speaking to “This Week” co-host Martha Raddatz, Donalds said local and federal law enforcement like the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement will lead the removals, which he said will focus on immigrants convicted of crimes and those who have already been ordered to be legally deported but remain in the country.
“When you’re using military assets, that’s only as a last resort. There are over 6,000 officers who have dedicated their lives to trying to remove illegal aliens from our country, people who are already legally deportable. The order, but it hasn’t been implemented. Joe Biden” said Donalds.
“I think if you’re going to use military assets, that’s a last resort, but that’s just for logistical purposes, Martha. And so I think what we have to be very careful about is trying not to throw this out. The idea that you’re going to have troops United States door to door That won’t happen.”
