In Gaza, aid groups say Jabalia and other parts of northern Gaza have been under siege since early October, when Israel launched a new ground offensive against the Palestinian militant group Hamas.
Dr. Fadel Naim, director of Al-Ahli Hospital in Gaza City, told the AP that his facility had received 17 bodies from Jabaliya, including nine women, and that the death toll was likely to rise.
Eyewitnesses described the Israeli strike as an “earthquake.”
“We just sat peacefully. These are innocent citizens who do not belong to any military organization or faction,” Hamza Alloush, an eyewitness and relative of the victims, told Reuters.
The house was “bombed over the heads of the residents without warning, which led to the martyrdom of all who were in it. Those who were lucky enough to survive were thrown into trees and neighbors, and the remains are still lying under the rubble,” he said.
Videos and images showed several bodies wrapped in blankets in the backs of cars and laid on the ground at the hospital.
Another strike in Gaza City killed a Ministry of Social Security official and seven members of his family, including his wife and children, medics and relatives said.
Israel faces a US deadline that expires in a few days to improve the humanitarian situation in Gaza or face possible restrictions on military cooperation.
