The world’s largest tree has been rigorously dated for the first time, confirming that it is at least 16,000 years old.
Called Pando, the tree is a trembling aspen (Trembling people) in Utah’s Fishlake National Forest has about 47,000 stems connected by a root system that spreads over about 43 acres. It has long been thought to be among the oldest living things on Earth, but scientists weren’t sure how old it was…
