Nottingham Forest are ready to make a club record bid for Wolves striker Matheus Cunha.
Forest are one of five Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, who are interested in the player.
It is believed that an offer of around £60m could be enough to tempt Wolves into selling.
Wolves are adamant Cunha is not for sale this window, despite interest.
Cunha, who has two-and-a-half years left on his contract, is an important part of Wolves’ squad as they look to fight for Premier League survival.
Sky Sports News understands the Wolves are taking it easy on the contract situation with Cunha.
Discussions surrounding a new contract have centered on his form and contribution to the team over the past 12 months.
Despite not signing a new contract, it is understood it will not have an immediate impact on his future at Wolves.
The Wolves are not under financial pressure to sell Kunya either. they made more than £90m from the sales of Pedro Neto and Max Kilmann last summer and their priority is Premier League safety.
To those interested in Cunha – the message from Wolves is clear. they have received no offers, no contact from other clubs, but most importantly, he is not for sale.
The 25-year-old is believed to be extremely upset at being singled out for criticism from manager Vitor Pereira after Wolves lost to Chelsea on Monday night.Pereira said he did not like Cunha’s body language.
Sky Sports News reported on Tuesday that Arsenal: are also monitoring Cunha’s situation.Manchester City have also been targeting Cunha, but it seems they have decided to sign him Omar Marmush instead.
“Arsenal” are deprived of attacking options after serious injuries Bukayo Saka and: Gabriel Jesus – Jesus will be ruled out for the rest of the season due to a knee injury.
“I think we are very short,” Arsenal head coach Mikel Arteta admitted this week.
Wolves are reluctant to let Cunha go as they sit 17th in the Premier League table.
But Sky Sports News understands that he is unlikely to sign a new contract with Molineux.
Forest have also bid for Brentford’s Yoa warned.
But Brentford are unwilling to sell and Forest’s offer is believed to be lower than £22m, well short of Brentford’s valuation of the striker.
Meanwhile, Arsenal: they used their two domestic loan signings on goalkeeper Neto from Bournemouth and Raheem Sterling from Chelsea.
That means any move for Cunha would have to be a permanent deal, unless Arsenal allow any of those players to return to their parent club.
Arsenal could also sign Neto or Sterling permanently to free up space on a domestic loan.
