The Weekend Winners team returns in 2025 and launches its top picks for Sandown action this Saturday.
Presenter Kate Treacy is joined by attheraces.com’s Declan Rix and BetVictor’s Sam Boswell as they preview the race card featuring Veterans Chase qualifying.
Declan and Kate go head-to-head in the two-mile free bet in Unibet’s Betbuilder Rebound Handicap Hurdle (3.35), while Sam favors the older favorite earlier on the card.
Declan Rix of attheraces.com…
Oh My Johnny (Sundown, 3.35)
“I really like him. I think the 116 rating is very applicable to the team of Philip Hobbs and Johnson White.
“When he ran in Bangor I had him run up to 120. He finished the race last when he fell and I thought that was very unlucky.
“Then he won really well at Uttoxeter. His jumping can still be quite silly, but what I really like about him is he finds a lot of pressure.
“I think he’s a very good handicapper and the yard flies.”
Host Kate Tracy…
Navajo Indy (Sandown, 3.35)
“It’s a tough bet, but I really like the third horse on the list, Navajo Indy.
“Any one of them can win this because it’s super competitive, but he’s chasing the quadruple, having signed the first of those wins last season.
“He was more reserved in the Gerry Fylden last time, but I’m hoping he’ll go back to a more familiar tactic because that’s what horses like that tend to do.
“He showed himself on soft ground again last time, showing his versatility. He’s up 8lb, which won’t be easy, but he’s game and likeable.”
Sam Boswell of BetVictor…
Copperhead (Sandown, 3.00)
“I like his consistency and I hope it will continue.
“I went back to Joe Tizzard’s comments at the start of the season and they were coming back from this veteran series final. He’s just been going great ever since.
“Restarting Freddie Gyngell will take 3kg off, which will be really helpful.
“I think stablemate (Eldorado Allen) could have been a bit of a threat, but he’s been pushed (with a handicap) so there’s not as much between them as there was.”
