Vornado is voluntarily recalling its VH2 whole-room heaters due to the potential for the product’s power cord to come loose and cause electric shock and fire hazards.

More than 7,700 Vornado VH2 whole-room heaters are being recalled because the product’s power cord can potentially come loose, causing electric shock and fire hazards.

The recalled heaters were made in the USA and have the date code “JUL24” or “AUG24” and “TYPE VH2” printed on the silver rating label on the underside of the heater. They also have thermostatic temperature control with settings for automatic or continuous fan operation and two heat settings.
VH2 heating units sold for about $90 on Amazon between August and October 2024, according to an ad. CPSC website.
Vornado has instructed anyone with the recalled heaters to immediately unplug and stop using them. Consumers can call Vornado toll-free at (844) 205-7978 between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM CST, Monday through Friday, or email vh2recall@vornado.com with the subject line “VH2 Recall” for assistance.
Consumers can also visit Vornado remember the website to confirm whether their product is part of the recall and to find out how to receive a free replacement heater.
The recall comes as a winter blast covers much of the US Gulf Coast once in a lifetime snow weather and arctic temperatures affecting about 265 million Americans.
All portable heaters have potential hazards, especially fire hazards. The CPSC He shared these safety tips on his website:
- Never leave portable heaters on while you sleep.
- Never leave heaters running unattended in a confined space to reduce the risk of hyperthermia.
- Place the heaters on a stable, level surface where they will not tip over.
- Place all sides of a portable heater at least 3 meters away from bedding, clothing, curtains, paper, couches, and other flammable items.
- When using portable electric heaters, always use a wall outlet and never an AC outlet. Never run a heater cord under carpet or rugs.
- Be aware of children and pets around portable heaters.
