Tyson Fury suffered one of the worst rounds of his career when Oleksandr Usyk stunned him in the first fight for the world heavyweight title.
In that ninth round, the referee deemed Fury only caught on the ropes and gave him a count.
But former champion Fury has taken confidence from seeing that moment of serious danger as cause for concern.
“He took his best shots. He took 10 shots, all on goal, never missed me. So if he couldn’t drop me when I was on Bambi’s feet, God be with him this time,” Fury said. Sky Sports.
“I think he took his best shots to get me out of there and he didn’t.”
He is adamant that when they fight this weekend in Riyadh’s event of the season, they will live on Sky Sports box officehe will turn the tables on Usyk.
“Hit me with your best shot, I looked back at him and smiled and he will feel the anger and the threat this time, I have to prove,” Fury warned his opponent.
He is sure that in general the first fight was more punishing for the Ukrainian than for him.
“After the fight, they said he had a broken facial bone or jaw, something to do with that,” he said.
“I didn’t feel like I lost the fight at the time, I didn’t feel like I lost the fight in hindsight. So it’s subjective to people’s opinions. Some people thought I won.
“It was a close fight, and that’s what happens in close fights, I guess. It could go either way.”
The count had Fury down in the ninth round, though it could have gone Usick’s way.By eliminating those mistakes, Fury insists the rematch will swing in his favor.
“I think it (the count) being close to the end of the fight, I guess the judges must have seen it and capitalized on it a little bit more than they would have if it hadn’t happened,” he said.
“A little more focus, if anything. More of a laser focus. If I take them to the game plan, it’s a little more successful. They just gave it to him on the one hand, point, (it could have been) a split decision, anyway, a draw, whatever.
“So there aren’t any huge things we can change. But how about I made that 10-8 round in the 9th? It’s not a draw anymore.” a one point win is a clear win.
“A little less nonsense and a little more concentration, laser focus, and I should get the job done.”
He did applaud the technical excellence of both fighters in their first meeting, especially for the two heavyweights.
“At one stage I was hitting him with lead shots, bang, over the top, we’ve never seen heavyweights throw rights, over the top. That’s good, I liked it,” he said.
“The styles make for different fights. As we’ve seen with Lennox Lewis and Evander Holyfield over the years, the two fights they’ve had have been very close. And it’s pretty similar. I expect it’s very similar, I expect it will be. be a tough little fight.
“Even as a boxing fan I’ve watched it many times, there were swings and turns from both sides and both fighters had success.”
Now he added: “I feel ready to rock and roll.
“I will be ready to do business.”
