President-elect Donald Trump on Monday he threw his support behind Speaker Mike Johnson amid a battle over the House floor that will culminate in a vote at the end of the week.
“Speaker Mike Johnson is a good, hard-working, religious man,” Trump wrote at the end of a lengthy social media post. “He’s going to do the right thing, and we’re going to keep WINNING. Mike’s got my all & full approval.”

In the same message, Trump boasted of a successful run for the White House in 2024, praising Republicans for running a “legendary” campaign while opposing the president. Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris.
He called on Republicans to “not blow” an opportunity to provide some “relief” to the outgoing administration, urging Republicans to support Johnson.
Johnson, who faced pushback from members of his own party over his leadership in the latest battle to shut down the government, thanked Trump for his support.
“I am honored and humbled by your support, as always,” Johnson wrote on X. “Together, we will quickly fulfill your America First agenda and usher in a new golden age for America. The American people demand and deserve it. Don’t waste time on the job.”
