Nicky Henderson trained Excello Looked like an exciting prospect over fences when winning at Ascot but has since returned to hurdles where he finished second at Ascot recently.He will do well to get his head back here.
Harry Cobden rode Ma Shantou For a big win at Warwick and continues to travel for Emma Lavelle, she rates as a big threat after making little mistake over hurdles in both starts.
Illegal d’Ainay another one that could be competitive for Chris Gordon.
12.45 Windsor – The Famous Five, Helnwein and Tedley clash
Alan King Helnwein made a promising start to his chasing career when he finished second to Telepathique, who later finished in a Listed competition, and is looking to build on this effort under Tom Cannon.
Venetia Williams and Charlie Deutsch team up with a pretend duo The famous five who returned at Newbury after a 252-day layoff in the Grade 3 Gerry Fielden Hurdle and will leave for PE for a run on his debut.
The most experienced chaser in the field is Nigel Twiston-Davies. Tedley who has now won four times over bigger hurdles, including behind Calif Du Berle at Newbury.This five-year-old should put his experience to good use here and will be a big player for the 7lb Jamie Brace.
1.55 – Jeffery’s Cross returns from a long break from the competitive chase
The Skeltons’ Jeffery’s cross he is a consistent type over fences and produced a nice basket at Haydock in April 2023 but will need a long break if he is to win here.
The Unidentified Stalker of Venetia Williams Tanganyika Made his debut at Bangor-on-Dee last time in a respectable fifth at the break and looks to have a good chance despite the conditions not in his favour.
The veteran Northern Cape makes his 64th race and is a solid horse on his opening day.Although he hasn’t shown much in recent starts, he continues to interest and is down to his last winning mark of 122, which he achieved at Perth.
Balikamus 2-8 over the fences and the door knocks on his 120 mark.

At 2.30 in East Berkshire, Harry Cobden sets off Asian spice for trainer Jimmy Frost, a horse who will be looking to build on his impressive five-year-old success at Exeter from his most recent appearance.Bellbird and Hedera Park are likely to challenge him under Charlie Magee and Gavin Sheehan respectively.
At 3.05pm, Duhallow Tommy will be looking to improve on his third after a long break last time out in the hands of Kevin Brogan.Another likely candidate is Reilly, who goes to Dan Skelton’s team.
