Tiger Woods is set to return to the PNC Championship, live on Sky Sports, with his 15-year-old son Charlie, his first competition since The Open in July and his sixth back operation three months ago.
Woods has played the 36-hole PNC Championship with Charlie every year since 2020.
The tournament invites players who have won a major or The Players Championship with family members, usually their children.
“Playing together is something we look forward to and it’s always more special when you’re surrounded by friends and family,” said Woods, who set a Masters record in April by making his 24th straight cut.
The 48-year-old underwent a microdiscectomy in September to ease leg pain, his sixth lower back surgery.
Prior to that, he was already recovering from leg and ankle injuries sustained in his horrific car accident in February 2021.
His last win was the Zozo Championship in Japan in the fall of 2019, which tied Sam Snead for the PGA Tour record with 82 career titles, but there’s no telling how often he might play in 2025.
“Whether my commitment continues, yes, I can say that again,” Woods said last week. “But I really don’t know. I’m just trying to recover and get better and better I feel like I’m really giving myself the best chance I can to go next year.”
The PNC Championship features 13-year-old Will McGee, son of Annika Sorenstam, and 89-year-old Gary Player. Nellie Korda returns to play with her father, former Grand Slam tennis champion Petr Korda.
New to the tournament this year are Fred Zweiger and stepson Hunter Hanneman, and Trevor Immelman and son Jacob.
The tournament will be held on December 21-22 at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Orlando, Florida, for 20 teams. live on Sky Sports Golf.
