“Tiger King” star James Garretson was arrested in Florida this week … and he claims the bust may have something to do with his involvement in the Netflix series and Joe Exotic business
James was arrested Monday night in Marathon … and police in the Florida Keys say he was driving on a suspended license.
According to an arrest report obtained by TMZ, officers say they saw James driving in Marathon and recognized him from a previous police encounter. Police say they checked his license in a database and saw it was suspended.
Police say they saw James driving again that evening and pulled him over. Police say James produced a Florida ID, not a driver’s license, and they asked him to get out of his truck before handcuffing him.
Police say James has a previous conviction for driving with a suspended license and they took him to the Key West Jail for booking. Police say James has been charged and has a court date set for next month.
James, who worked with Joe Exotic the day before he became an FBI informant to help secure Joe’s conviction, tells TMZ … when cops pulled him over, he told one of the officers: “I know you are. You for a while.”
JG says the cop didn’t elaborate on the alleged comment, and they didn’t tell him why he was pulled over or why he was arrested…at least not until he got to the jail an hour away in Key West…and he feels that there was some motive behind his arrest.
James tells us he thinks the bust may have something to do with his affiliation with the Tiger King series and all the drama surrounding his appearance on the Netflix hit.
He posed for a trophy shot in prison and says he married $546.
