LONDON — Police in London are hunting a thief who broke into an occupied mansion and stole 10.5 million pounds ($13.2 million) in jewelry, designer handbags and cash.
The property owner, identified in British media as an Instagram influencer, and her developer husband, were not home at the time on December 7. But the workers were there and a housekeeper approached the armed intruder. surveillance images
“This is an audacious crime where the suspect entered the property armed with an unknown weapon,” Metropolitan Police Constable Paulo Roberts said on Monday when the robbery was announced.
Items stolen included a 10.73 carat diamond ring, diamond earrings and a clip studded with gold, diamonds and sapphires. The shipment also included 150,000 kilos ($189,000) worth of bags.
The homeowners have offered a £500,000 ($628,000) reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect, plus an additional reward of 10% of the value of the items recovered.
Police said the suspect climbed in through a second-story window.
Surveillance footage obtained by MailOnline showed the man walking down a corridor a minute before a maid got off the lift at the same spot.
