There is no better way to end a delicious dinner with something sweet. But when the cold weather hits and the holidays are upon us, our dessert recipes call for something more decadent and rich. Something comfortable that will keep you and your guests coming back for more. It’s times like these when I find myself swirling and twirling in a rich, smooth warm chocolate, like berries and pieces of cake. That’s right, fondue. Is there anything more decadent than a chocolate fondue on a cold winter night? It’s as close as you can get to heaven. Add some caramel and you’ll get a little closer.
The secret ingredient
This time I’m thinking of a slightly more sophisticated fondue. A little more mature. And what is more dreamy than combining Marsala + Chocolate? Marsala, a fortified Sicilian wine with delicious hazelnut notes, is added to dishes with nutty and caramelized sauces. To this fondue, we are adding some sprinkles Holland House Marsala Cooking Wine. Believe me; it takes it to another level.
Why use cooking wine?
It’s great for those times when you know you won’t finish a whole bottle, but still want the taste of that wine in your recipe. It’s also a great pantry staple when you want to amp up your favorite dishes, including beef, chicken, and pork. But today we’re talking about the sweet stuff. Because Marsala Cooking Wine contains a little salt, Holland House Marsala Cooking Wine balances the sweetness of the chocolate and caramel beautifully in this recipe for a more luxurious fondue mix.

Notes
NOTE: You can find caramel sauce and caramel topping at the grocery store. “Topping” is intended for ice cream and is thicker. This is what you want for this recipe. If you can only find caramel sauce, your fondue will taste amazing! Simply reduce the amount of cream to 1/2 cup at the beginning of the recipe. After adding all the ingredients, you can gradually add the rest of the cream until you get the right consistency. It should be nice and thick. it’s not a feed.
