Jake Lloyd “Star Wars. The child star who played young Anakin Skywalker in Episode I: The Phantom Menace is finally opening up about his mental health issues…
The former actor spoke with the author Clayton Sandel Co-wrote the Star Wars timeline with her mother. Lisa Lloydfor a feature that is installed Sandell’s Substack.
According to Sandel, Jake just finished an 18-month stint in a mental health rehabilitation facility after a “psychotic break” in March 2023, during which his mother says he turned off his car’s engine while driving on a three-lane highway;
When asked how he was feeling, Lloyd told Sandel. “Very good considering the end of 20 years. I can now accept the ongoing treatment and my medication. Everyone has been very supportive.”
While she’s answering questions and wanting to talk, Sandel has noted that she’s slurred some words and gone off on a few tangents … which Lisa says happens when she’s tired.
Lloyd says that the medication has been a cushion for him… making him feel less unstable every day.
While he’s still living in a rehab facility, this one allows him to come and go as he pleases…and serves more as a home base when he’s ready to return to the outside world.
As for her “rock bottom,” in her words, Lloyd says she’s thankful … so she can “honestly participate in treatment, honestly take your medications, and honestly live with your diagnosis.”
We’ve covered Lloyd, who starred in the controversial ‘SW’ prequel when he was just eight years old, for years… many arrests in front of his mother admitted to being in rehab after about 10 months of his stay.

We saw him too going to the gym in Los Angeles in October … which would have been just a few months after he left a full-time mental health rehab facility.
He seems to be on the right track…and feeling good for the first time in years.
