I grew up and live in the south, I know it well Pork barbecue. I am also familiar with the fact that most barbecue places rely on high fructose corn syrup and other non-food ingredients in their sauces. This Boston Butt Pork Roast recipe does away with everything and uses ingredients that are simply delicious and full of flavor.
Boston butt is one of the easiest cuts of pork to cut and is also one of the cheapest. I was able to find Boston Boots Baked pork At a great price, and slow cooking makes this recipe incredibly tender. How to Serve Boston Booties
For our family, one Boston roast with all the leftovers lasts about 3 meals. It is a delicious source of protein and tastes great on its own or repurposed into other dishes. We made barbecue omelets with the leftovers. It also tastes great in tacos or in a protein-rich salad.

Store any leftovers in the remaining juices for best flavor and tenderness. If you want to cool it, cool it with the liquid too. This will protect the surface during melting.
If there is too much liquid for you after cooking, there is an easy fix. Cook for 10-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until reduced and glossy and slightly thickened. It should be spooned on, not runny like a sauce.

Slow Cooker Boston Boot Recipe
Easy Slow Cooker Boston Boot with flavorful spices, fruity pineapple, and smoky barbecue.

Finely chop the onions and place them in the bottom of a 6-quart or larger slow cooker.

Wash the Boston butter and put it on the onion.

Sprinkle with spices.

Pour the whole can of pineapple on top. If using fresh pineapple, peel, core and thin, slice the pineapple and place on top of the pork.

Add apple cider vinegar.

Place the lid on the slow cooker and cook on low for 10-12 hours or until fork tender. Do not open for at least 8 hours and then check for softness.

After cooking, cut the pork.

Add ½ -1 cup cooking liquid and simmer for 5-10 minutes with BBQ sauce. Pour the liquid back into the pork and stir the lid.

Quick Pot Boston Boot Recipe
The above recipe is for a slow cooker Boston Boot, but you can easily modify it for the Instant Pot.
Quick pot instructions
- Turn the Instant Pot into a saucepan. Add a little oil and cook the chopped onions for 3-4 minutes until soft. Press Delete.
- Place the Boston steak on top of the onions. Sprinkle all the spices evenly.
- Pour the crushed (or freshly chopped) pineapple and apple cider vinegar over the pork. Add ½ cup water or broth to help the pressure cooker come to pressure.
- Secure the lid and set the valve to seal. Cook on high pressure for 75 minutes. Release the pressure naturally for 20-30 minutes, then release the remaining pressure.
- Remove the pork and shred with two forks.
- Turn the Instant Pot into a saucepan and simmer the cooking liquid for 10-15 minutes until it thickens slightly.
- Pour into the barbecue pan and leave for 2-3 minutes.
- Return the sliced pork to the pot, leave to season and serve.
