Sky Sports has joined as a new campaign partner for ‘The BIGGER 180’ campaign for Prostate Cancer UK at the World Darts Championship.
Paddy Power will once again donate £1,000 to Prostate Cancer UK for every 180 in this year’s tournament, plus a massive £180,000 bonus for every nine ball;
This year’s donation is expected to surpass the £1 million raised in 2023/24, and the funds will support Prostate Cancer UK’s TRANSFORM trial, a ground-breaking research project to find the best way to diagnose prostate cancer early and pave the way for a national screening programme. .
One man dies from prostate cancer every 45 minutes in the UK, but early detection, when it is easier to treat, can save lives.
This Christmas, fans will be encouraged to take just 30 seconds to check their prostate cancer risk using the easy online tool below:
As well as raising awareness across the UK, the campaign will focus on reaching men in regions such as Scotland, Wales, the North West, South West and Midlands, where there are higher numbers of men being diagnosed too late to receive treatment.
The player with the most 180s at the tournament will also be awarded the Ball of Art, won by champion Luke Humphreys in 2023/24.
He hit an astonishing 73 on his way to glory.
The representative of Sky Sports said: “It’s a great honor to be a part of The BIGGER 180 campaign, especially after seeing the outstanding work and money raised last year. We look forward to using Sky’s platforms to help make a meaningful difference lives.”
Matt Porter, CEO of Professional Darts Corporation, said: “The BIG 180 was the biggest charity darts partnership ever and it is exciting to see this grow even further for the 2024/25 Paddy Power World Darts Championship.
“The BIG 180 will directly benefit the TRANSFORM trial and given the amazing standard of players produced throughout 2024, we could not only see a record number of 180s at the event, but also many nine darts.”
