Scores of people were injured, some seriously, when a ski lift collapsed at a Spanish resort on Saturday.
At least nine of the dozens injured are reported to be seriously injured… while dozens more are left on damaged armchairs at a resort in Spain’s Aragon region.
Shortly after local reports were published … several videos were shared on social media showing the injured strewn near the slope, seemingly scattered in poles and ski boots … while emergency crews tried to reach them.
A picture from the area showed what appeared to be a huge wheel gear on the left completely out of its mount. The exact cause of the malfunction is not clear.
A witness told state-run TVE… “It looked like a cable snapped, chairs jumped and people were thrown down.”
Emergency crews also included a helicopter, which captured harrowing video of the horrific aftermath.
Prime Minister of Spain Pedro Sanchez He said he was “shocked by the news of the accident”… adding, “Our hearts go out to the injured and their families.”
