After some big midweek results, all 12 Scottish Premier League clubs return to action this weekend; Here’s what to watch out for in the Premier League…
What’s live on Sky Sports?
After them thrashed Kilmarnock 6-0 at Ibrox on Wednesday, Rangers Boss Philip Clement knows the fans will demand a similar performance when they visit Ross County on sunday Live on Sky Sports.
Rangers ran out 6-0 winners against Don Cowie’s side this season, however, if the players need any reminder why Sunday’s match in Dingwall will be a breeze, they only need to look back at their last trip to the Highlands.
Ross County beat Rangers for the first time, dealing a damaging blow to the Gers’ title hopes at the time.
Rangers look to be returning to form with three straight wins in all competitions, scoring 11 goals and conceding just one, while Ross County have failed to score in four of their last five league games and have won just two of their last 10.
While the stats don’t make for pleasant reading for the Staggies, both of those wins came at home, while Rangers have struggled on the road, winning just two of their six away league games.
It is expected that both clubs will reach. time will tell who can handle the pressure and claim all three points.
Are Celtic unstoppable?
Following them 1-0 win over nearest rivals AberdeenNeil Lennon said his former club Celtic they “leave a lot of teams behind.”
The win at Pittodrie took Brendan Rodgers’ side seven points clear with a game in hand with the Dons, and Lennon added that “the almighty collapse you can’t see” is going to stop Celtic in their title chase.
In front of the face Hibernian The Hoops have won 21 of their last 23 league games at home on Saturday, including 14 of their last 16 at Celtic Park.
If that wasn’t ominous enough for David Gray, the stats don’t get much better when you consider that Hibs are winless in 19 away games against Celtic in all competitions. the last five visits to the champions have ended in defeat.
The odds are certainly stacked against Hibs, but if they are to pull off a shock win, conviction must surely come from their last two performances, coming from behind to draw 3-3 with Aberdeen before beating Motherwell 3-0. to win The Easter Road side again found their touch in front of goal.
They will need to be clinical if they are to get a result against Celtic on Saturday and move away from 11th, while Rodgers will hope the same from his relentless side.
Will the Dons drought end?
Aberdeen Jimmy Thelin’s start to life was much better than expected, with the Dons winning 10 of their opening 11 league games, with their only points dropped coming in a 2-2 draw at Celtic Park.
However, the three away games since the international break resulted in two draws and one loss; before their return home against Celtic ended 1-0.
It’s too early to panic at Pittodrie, but Aberdeen will be desperate to get back to winning ways as they host. St. Johnston.
Simo Valacari has improved results and performances since arriving at Saints in Perth, but knows the club have won just one of their last eight league matches against the Dons, losing five.
St Johnstone, who have lost their last two away league games, have not lost three in a row since January 2023. Will they do enough to get through the weekend or will Aberdeen get back to winning ways?
Can hearts move from below?
Hearts are at the bottom of the table, two points behind their city rival Hibernian.
Neil Critchley’s side have picked up just one point from their last three games, all against the top three, and need wins to stay out of danger.
A third home game in a row might look good on paper, however, they have picked up just six points at Tynecastle Park this season and no other team has taken fewer points at home in the league this season.
Dundee They are the visitors on Saturday and with 3 away wins in their last five, Tony Docherty’s side will be confident of picking up more points on their travels.
The Dees have scored nine goals in their last three games, winning two and drawing the other. the good feeling is obvious, but can they use it to get another big result?
What else is there to look out for?
“Dundee United”. Saturday’s match at home Kilmarnock winning back-to-back Premiership games at Tannadice Park without conceding a goal.
If they do it again against Derek McInnes’ side, it will be the first time since November 2014.
Killie, meanwhile, suffered their heaviest defeat of the season on Wednesday, losing 6-0 to Rangers. However, the history books read in their favour.
They have won two of their last three league matches against United, drawing the other, as they look to bounce back from their defeat at Ibrox and move out of the bottom two.
elsewhere, Motherwell are just one point ahead of Saturday’s opponents Saint Mirren – although I have a game at Paisley club.
It’s a game the Saints have won just once at home in their last nine matches, with Motherwell winning four in that span.
However, Stuart Kettlewell’s side have lost their last three matches, while St Mirren have lost just twice at home this season, winning four and drawing four.
