Formula 1’s America’s triple-header draws to a close with the Sao Paulo Grand Prix at Interlagos as the Sprint format gives Lando Norris a great opportunity to make a deeper run on world championship leader Max Verstappen.
McLaren’s Norris reignited his championship hopes to close within 47 points of Verstappen after a thrilling and controversial Mexico Grand Prix saw the Red Bull driver receive two penalties for twice pitting his title rival.
With just four rounds left in the season, Norris must continue his inroads but has two chances to do so in Brazil, with Interlagos maintaining its status as the only circuit to have hosted a Sprint every season since the format was introduced in 2021 :
The circuit remains the perfect location for a Sprint, given the many overtaking opportunities, and exciting wheel-to-wheel racing is almost guaranteed.
The battle between Verstappen and Norris isn’t the only storyline to follow, as Ferrari’s back-to-back wins have put the Italian team 29 points clear of McLaren at the top of the constructors’ standings.
The format means that the competitive action begins on Friday, with Sprint Qualifying taking place after just one practice session, before Sprint and Grand Prix Qualifying on Saturday ahead of Sunday’s full-length race; Sky Sports F1.
