The first crowd to see Rust gasped audibly during a scene that eerily paralleled the real-life tragedy that took place on the set of… Alec Baldwin shot and killed a cinematographer Halina Hutchins.
One of the first glimpses of the premiere of Rust in Poland has surfaced, and a report from Vulture says there was a noticeable shock in the room when a character was accidentally killed off.
The shooting scene takes place early in the movie … and the review says the crowd reaction was definitely related to Hutchins’ death.
In fact, the film critic says that while watching the film, it is difficult to separate “Rust” from Baldwin’s filming.
The plot is about a 13-year-old boy who accidentally kills a rancher in Kansas and goes on the run from the law with his grandfather… so it seems easy for people to draw parallels with the past… define incident;
Alec wasn’t among the shocked crowd…he missed the premiere altogether and will be back in NYC…the opening of the movie was more focused on Halina’s honor.
“Rust” premiered at the Camerimage Film Festival in Torun, Poland… but there are currently no plans to release the film to American audiences.
