Ruben Amorim admitted that it was Manchester United’s lack of quality that cost them against Nottingham Forest and reiterated that there is no quick fix.

United beat Forest 3-2 in Amorim’s first defeat at Old Trafford and are now 13th in the Premier League table.

Amorim has only lost one top-flight game in his coaching career and it didn’t take long for him to feel that way at Manchester United

Manchester United v Nottingham Forest Premier League Highlights

He told Sky Sports“It was a difficult game, we started both halves. It was difficult to give the players a certain amount of composure. We didn’t have a lot of quality, but a lot of heart. It’s really difficult in this context.

“We need more time to set up positions. If you see the first goal, it was a good combination between the players and after the first goal we had good moments, but then we went forward without thinking. It’s a difficult context, but we understand that this is a long way and that is our job.”

Nikola Milenkovic headed home two minutes from time as United conceded their third goal in a week after beating Arsenal on Wednesday night.

When asked who is to blame for the poor organization in the corner, Amorim answered: “This is more my fault because I am responsible.

MAN UTD DEFENDING CORNERS FOREST SNF

Former Manchester United defender Phil Jones highlighted the corner that Ruben Amorim’s side conceded against Nottingham Forest after just 91 seconds.

“And we tried to do it in the best way. We did a lot of work in this area because we saw it at Arsenal. It was really difficult.

“In this context, at the beginning of the game, we suffered in the first game. It’s really difficult to put energy into the team, but we managed to do it. We drew (1-1).

“The same in the second half. And then you feel it in everyone, the fans, the players.

“It’s really hard to pass something on, like keep doing your job. We managed to score another goal, but then it was more like we wanted, but not as much quality.”

United have now suffered back-to-back defeats under Amorim, with any jump in new managers not having much of a short-term impact on results.

Amorim added: “At first I had this and worse at Sporting. I know it’s the same feeling for the world, because you know Sporting is in Portugal, but in Manchester you have the same feeling. is

“If you have a bit of experience in football, it happens with a lot of clubs. And we have to be able to keep doing the same things and improve the team. So we need time and we have to continue the same every day to work in a way”.

Analysis: Mistakes disrupt Amorim’s plans

Sky Sports’ Adam Bate.

“Amorim has certainly changed the style of play at United. They are trying to be more patient, but this defeat is a real setback. There was a noticeable lack of belief when they were chasing the game.

“At Ipswich, the majority of the ball was in their own half. Here, they were able to get closer to the opposition’s goal, with 71.6 percent of the ball. For context, they only had that much once under Erik Ten Haag. During the defeat against Crystal Palace.

“But the lack of creativity was alarming, especially when Fernandez was sent off. United certainly stifled Nuno’s impressive play management. His careful substitutions allowed Harry Maguire time on the ball.

Amorim will want to turn United into a team that can confidently possess the ball, and the example of the first goal. to be efficient.

“But what followed was a reminder that this team is still extremely fragile, prone to inexplicable mistakes that can derail the best-laid plans. And their next Premier League game is the Etihad.” in the stadium, live Sky Sports”.
