RNC Co-Chair Lara Trump to step down amid speculation about Florida senate seat

Lara Trump, daughter of the president-elect Donald Trump to whom he hit He said he plans to step down to become chairman of the Republican National Committee for the 2024 election cycle.

The move comes amid growing speculation that he may be in the running to fill an upcoming Senate vacancy. Floridawhose senator Marco Rubio has been appointed for the secretary of state.

“The job I came to do is done and I plan to formally leave the RNC at the next meeting,” Lara Trump said. a message on X

If Rubio is confirmed as secretary of state in the incoming Trump administration, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis would have to choose a successor to serve out the remainder of Rubio’s term, which ends in 2026.

“It’s something I would seriously consider,” Lara Trump said in an interview with The Associated Press.

He added: “If I’m being completely transparent, I don’t know exactly what that would look like. And I definitely want to get all the information if it’s real to me. But yeah, I would 100. It counts.”
