A few years ago, I spent an interesting day visiting two of Europe’s most advanced waste processing facilities, a state-of-the-art landfill near Espoo in Finland and a power plant near Vantaa. Together, they are playing a key role in the larger The Helsinki push towards a circular economy, ensuring that every piece of municipal waste in the city is recycled or converted into energy or heat, nothing is sent to landfill.
