As part of President-elect Donald Trump’s strategy to secure the border, Immigration and Customs Enforcement will conduct post-inauguration raids on Tuesday, sources briefed on the plans told ABC News.
ICE will likely start in Chicago and could expand to other major cities, according to the sources, who indicated that plans are subject to change.
The agency has ramped up its operations in response to Trump’s plan carrying out deportationsand the agency requested ICE agents to assist in at least some of the operations, according to a source.

Agencies under the Department of Homeland Security’s umbrella, such as Enforcement and Removal Operations, which handles deportations, and Homeland Security Investigations have been put on “alert” by the incoming administration, officials familiar with the plan told ABC News.
While field teams have not been given specific details about what will happen next week, federal agents assigned to the region have been asked to prepare for cases and operations they were “ready to do,” officials said.

Tom Homanthe incoming border czar, has in past comments foreshadowed these operations, specifically aimed at Chicago.
