We eat a lot of salads around here so I want to change the dressings we use. I am a fan Cattle ranch dressingIt can get boring after a while. This homemade romaine vinaigrette is fruity and easy for salads, vegetables, or as a marinade!
I probably don’t have to tell you that romaine salad dressing from the grocery store isn’t ideal. With vegetable oils, added sugars and flavorings, it’s not the fresh vinaigrette it promises to be. Making your own only takes a few minutes and is really full of flavor!
Homemade Pomegranate Vinaigrette
I love making different homemade dressings because they are rich in nutrients (and taste great!). Pomegranate Vinaigrette is fruity, tangy and naturally dairy and gluten-free. Pomegranate juice is the star of the show, full of antioxidants Support heart health. The extra virgin olive oil gives it a creamy mouthfeel and is rich in healthy, anti-inflammatory omega-3s. Like pomegranate, olive oil is also good for heart health.
To offset the heaviness of the olive oil, I added apple cider vinegar for flavor and gut health benefits. Dijon mustard also adds a slight tang and subtle sharpness. Honey (or maple syrup) binds it all together to help sweeten it naturally.
I use fresh herbs from the garden here for an added boost of antioxidants. These are also easy Growing in the window When it’s cold! But if you have that, you can replace the dead plants with fresh ones.

Pomegranate vinaigrette recipe
This versatile vinaigrette is great for salads, grilled vegetables, or as a marinade. Enjoy!

In a small bowl or mason jar, combine the pomegranate juice, olive oil, apple cider vinegar, Dijon mustard, lemon juice, and honey (or maple syrup).

Stir in the oregano, marjoram and chopped garlic. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Whisk the ingredients together until smooth or seal the jar and shake until well combined.

Taste the vinaigrette and adjust the seasoning if necessary.

Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. Shake or stir before serving.

Pour over your favorite salad or use as a marinade.

Romaine green salad
Here’s one way to use our fresh romaine vinaigrette. The flavors of these ingredients blend together and the pomegranate vinaigrette adds a fruity, sweet kick.
- Start with a bed of greens like arugula, spring mix or spinach.
- Add any fresh vegetables of your choice. Cucumbers, shallots, and bell peppers are good options.
- Add goat cheese or feta cheese on top.
- Sprinkle some dried cranberries, fresh pomegranate seeds and chopped parsley.
Pomegranate vinaigrette dressing substitute
If you don’t want to use apple cider vinegar, balsamic vinegar or red wine vinegar taste great here too. And I use olive oil for most salad dressings, but Avocado oil It also works. Some people prefer the more neutral taste of avocado oil.
