It seems that wild animals from Africa were part of the human diet in the Levant 10,000 years ago.

About 10,000 years ago, foxes and game animals formed a significant part of the diet of people in what is now western Galilee in Israel.

Archaeologists have long attributed the abundance of small bony carnivores in early Levantine settlements to fur collectors and symbolic associations like dental ornaments.
