Fallon Sherrock’s hopes of earning his PDC Tour Card have been dashed after he lost his opening match of the first round of the Qualifying School.
The PDC Qualifying Schools enable any darts player aged 16 and over to earn a two-year PDC Tour Card, and the Qualifying School will be held simultaneously at venues in the UK and Germany over seven days.
The first round is held from Monday to Wednesday, and each day’s eight quarter-finalists automatically qualify for the final round, while the remaining final round places, up to a total of 128 at each location, are determined by merit.
Sherrock was playing at the UK Qualifier at the Marshall Arena in Milton Keynes, where he beat Sean Carroll 5-4 in the final round of 256 on Monday, although he will have chances to overcome over the next two days. until the final stage.
The “Queen of Palace” shot an average of 83.37 before losing the last match, Sherock was joined by Noah-Lynn van Leeuwen, the first trans player to end the World Darts Championship, losing early on the opening day.
Van Leeuwen crushed Jordi Jose in straight legs in his opening match, but lost 5-3 to Riccardo Recci in the last-256 round of the European Qualifying School at Calgary’s Wonderland.
Elsewhere, former world champion John Part beat Thomas Cromwell 5-2, while former world runners-up Mark Dudbridge and Andy Hamilton also lost their first matches against Frankie Ansell and Chris Herds respectively.
Mason Whitlock, son of former World Championship runner-up Simon Whitlock, lost 5-1 in his opening match, while Devon Petersen sent Jared Cole straight-leg in the last round of 64.

What happens next at Q-School?
There are 474 players in first-round action in the European Qualifying School and 354 in the UK Qualifying School, and players who lose their tour card at the end of 2024 are exempt until the final round in any country.
They will be joined in the final round by players in the top 16 of the 2024 Winmau Challenge Tour and Development Tour Medals of Merit who do not already hold tour cards for 2025.
