Oprah Winfrey and: Gayle King stepped out in New York to celebrate Gayle’s 70th birthday, and Oprah gave her longtime friend a shocking surprise.
The two friends hit up Ci Siamo, a popular Manhattan restaurant…Oprah in a gold dress under a long white coat and Gail in a more muted black and brown outfit that perfectly matched her scarf.
They joined the two Megan Sullivanthe restaurant’s general manager, who walked in on what Gail clearly thought was supposed to be a small dinner party… though Oprah had a big surprise for her.
Winfrey posted a video from the restaurant to her Instagram on Saturday … walking in with a distraught Gayle as dozens of voices yelled “Surprise!”
Gail comes back completely shocked, while Oprah laughs at her reaction … explaining in the caption that it was hard to surprise Gail and their group had to tell the star a ton of lies.

The camera pans into the room … and checks the star power … Tina Knowles, Robert De Niro and many bolder names have taken the time to mention Gail.
It was all for Gail’s 70th birthday… which is until December 28th, all part of the surprise we think.
Gayle and Oprah have been friends for decades…first meeting in 1976 at a local television station in Baltimore when Oprah was an anchor and Gayle was hired as a production assistant.
This friendship is still going strong… and, of course, still full of surprises.
