Sophie Hediger A Swiss snowboarder who participated in the 2022 Beijing Games was tragically killed in an avalanche on Monday. He was just 26 years old.
The Swiss Ski Federation broke the heartbreaking news on Tuesday, revealing the incident at the Arosa resort.
“We are amazed,” Swiss-Ski CEO Walter Reusser “And our thoughts are with Sophie’s family, to whom we extend our deepest condolences.”
Hediger competed in several events at the 2022 Winter Olympics, including women’s snowboard cross.
In 2023-24, he reached the podium twice in the World Cup competitions.
Hediger just turned 26 on December 14th.
“For a Swiss skiing family, the tragic death of Sophie Hediger has cast a dark shadow over the Christmas season,” Reusser said. “We are extremely sad, we will keep the memory of Sophie.”
