William McNamara may be an actor… but the only acting he did this week was act like a hero as he saved many animals from the Pacific Palisades wildfire.
The longtime film and TV actor joined us on TMZ Live Friday … and we had a lot of questions about his animal rescue efforts this week, which began when officers shut down the roads leading to the Palisades.
Waiting for your permission to load Instagram media.
McNamara explains that some people left the animals at home and went out for the night… and when they tried to return to rescue the animals, the police wouldn’t let them in.
Billy was already in the Palisades…so instead of leaving, he started rescuing pets by rounding up dogs, pigs, peacocks, horses, and other animals and moving them to safety.
McNamara says he has some experience rescuing animals … so he didn’t go into it not knowing what to do, but his eyes and lungs were messed up from prolonged exposure to fire.
William doesn’t praise his rescue efforts…instead, he mentions several people he knows who run the Animal Protection Network, claiming that only three of them have saved more than 300 animals since the fires broke out, and asking the public: donations for them.
Now what to do with all the animals, especially if their owners have nowhere to go… hear what Billy has to say, it’s obviously one big collective effort.
The Palisades Fire is the largest of the fires currently plaguing Los Angeles, already consuming nearly 20,000 acres, and is currently only 8% contained.
It’s still early in the recovery process… but regular people like Billy are already doing what they can to make an impact in their community.
